The Sun formed about 4.5 billion years ago. It is a hot glowing ball of hydrogen and helium in the center of our solar system. It is also the largest object in our solar system. The Sun is 93 million miles away from Earth and provides heat and energy. Without the sun, life would not exist on Earth.
