This Marconi radio set is a high quality luxury battery-operated radio set. The Marconi Wireless Telegraph Company Ltd. was established by the Italian inventor and engineer, Guglielmo Marconi. He first developed the idea of a radio, or wireless telegraph, in the 1890s. The 4-LS/I model Marconi Radio Set did not have a built-in speaker so the buyer needed to plug in headphones or an external speaker in order to listen to it.
