About the Model
Fashion is always changing. Sleeveless dresses with straight waists were popular in the 1920s because of fashion designer Coco Chanel. These became known as flapper dresses or "garçonne look". Thousands of glass beads decorate this dress, which made it expensive and also heavy to wear. This dragon design and other Chinoiserie designs became part of high fashion in the 1920s. Young women and girls pushed the boundary of modesty by abandoning the corset and showing off their legs and arms.
