Boy's Bike
Handcrafted wooden bike, made by a Polish 12 year old boy.
About the Model
This wooden bike was handcrafted by Franciszek Gucwa, a Polish 12-year-old boy in 1927 to ride downhill. Peasant boys grazing cattle passed their time by carving simple musical instruments and toys, using only what they had. To make a bike of this caliber took great engineering skill and manual labor. Wooden downhill bikes were made to pass the work time and play at the same time. Artist: Franciszek Gucwa; Medium: fir wood, beech wood, iron
